Bank Zambia Supports Education
Finance
Bank Students Pride account, whose initial launch was at the
University of Zambia (UNZA), Great East Road campus, Lusaka
has been well received with over 6,000 accounts opened to
date. Hoping to capture the entire student populace, this
account is aimed at inculcating a culture of saving in the
students.
As part of the bank's
Corporate Social Investment (CSI), holders of these accounts
are offered an opportunity to win a scholarship that will
cover a semester's tuition fees. The first draw, which was
conducted at UNZA on Friday July 10, 2009 saw Miss Mwape
Rachael Mumba, a registered fifth year student in the school
of Agriculture, walk away with the scholarship.
The scholarship presentation
was held on July 23, 2009 in the executive board room at
Finance House and was graced by the guest of honour Dr.
Mulungushi, the Permanent Secretary of Ministry of
Education, the acting Dean of Students Mr. Zyambo and the
University of Zambia Union President, Mr. Duncan Nyirongo.
The initiative has been well
received, and Dr. Mulungushi called upon other institutions
to emulate Finance Bank in uplifting the standards of
education in the nation.
The Student Pride account
has a minimum opening balance of K30,000 and account holders
enjoy the benefits of no monthly fees, free ATM withdrawals
plus an attractive interest rate.
